How to play Ludo: a beginner’s guide

The basic idea

In the Align It overview, two to four players each have four tokens. Roll one die and move a token clockwise around the board towards its own finish; the first to finish all four wins.

Before the first roll

Choose a colour and put its four tokens in the matching base. Identify the shared route, the entry point and your home lane. Use the learning diagram as an orientation aid, then follow the markings on your actual board.

Read one turn slowly

Roll, identify the available moves, choose a token and complete its move. If a question appears, consult the selected rules before rolling again.
