Ludo safe squares explained

A marked space needs a rule, not just a symbol.

Our reference rule

In the UKLL casual baseline, stars and all starting points are shared safe spaces: mixed colours may occupy them without a capture.

Look before you decide

Find the relevant marking on the board and check its meaning in the adopted instructions. A familiar-looking icon is not enough to establish a rule in another app.

Try a paper question

Draw an ordinary square and a marked square. Write down what you would need to know before deciding whether a landing captures a token.

Keep examples scoped

When asking for help, name the board or app mode and the location. Avoid describing an unspecified space as safe merely because it is coloured.
